Frequently asked questions about Nanjing 南京FAQ Where can I find big shoes in Nanjing?
Until recently, if you were looking for big shoes in Nanjing the best place to start would be the train station! The task is now happily a little easier. A number of the smaller independent shoe shops in the city occasionally stock one or two pairs, but these are understandably very quickly sold out. The best strategy is to ask in every shoe shop you pass!
Slightly more reliable is the ground floor of the Xinbai Shopping Centre in Xinjiekou. On most days it is possible to find at least one pair of shoes bigger than size 44.
Situated at 166 Zhongshan Bei Lu (opposite Bu Bu Bu and about 50m south of the Giant bike shop), Uplander is a shop which according to its Chinese name (大脚板) claims to specialise in big feet. The term 'specialise' is somewhat of an exaggeration but (and unfriendly sales assistants aside) they do stock on a more or less continual basis a few pairs of sports and formal shoes in sizes above 44.
The ever popular Crocs brand have two shops in Nanjing and usually have in stock a few pairs up to UK size 11. Find them in Aqua City and New City Mall.
By far and away the greatest selection of large shoes is to be found at the Decathlon shop in Jiangning. They have a huge range of sports shoes, sandals and even roller blades, all in sizes up to and including 47. There is also a small selection of casual formal shoes in large sizes.
Decathlon is situated beside Metro, at 286 Ningli Road (宁溧路286号), open until 9pm and is on bus routes 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 86, 27 & 14.
Furthermore, if money is no object, then head for Xu Qing Handmade Shoes, located at 81 Shanghai Road. As the name implies, they specialise in handcrafted shoes in any size, but you can expect to pay upwards of ¥500...
