Frequently asked questions about Nanjing 南京FAQ When is a good time to visit Nanjing?
If you are planning to visit Nanjing, it is wise to first consider the Nanjing weather and in particular the infamous Nanjing summer. As one of the ‘three furnaces’ of China (along with Wuhan and Chongqing) Nanjing’s summer can last as long as 7 months, from April until November. Both spring and autumn in Nanjing are short but undoubtedly the most pleasant times of year. The Nanjing winter lasts from December until March. Temperatures through winter average freezing or a little above, although it can feel a LOT colder. In the summer 35-40 degrees is not uncommon but again, the humidity in Nanjing makes it feel hotter. The best months to visit Nanjing are September and October. It is also very pleasant in April and May although often windy. With its sub-tropical climate, the bulk of Nanjing's rain also falls in either May or June.
