There is an excellent tobacconist on Pailuo Xiang (100 meters north of the Sheraton) which stocks at times a reasonably wide range of rolling tobacco and a big selection of rolling papers in many sizes. Prices are around ¥25 per pack for tobacco.
In addition, Jimmy's pizza, just south of the Sheraton, for ¥10 sells small smoking 'kits' including enough tobacco for 4 smokes, filters and papers. Packs of papers can also be purchased to go.
Elsewhere in town, near the Nanjing University gate at 14 Guangzhou Lu you shall find Jingshanyanju [www.js368.cn], a tobacconist with an enormous selection of rolling papers and a not quite so impressive range of tobacco. Next, near the junction of Xinmofanma Lu and Sanpai Lou is another shop that stocks pipe tobacco and rolling tobacco. Prices are around ¥45 per pack.
For pipe smokers, on Hankou Xi Lu (between Suguo and the DVD shops) there is a small boutique shop with wines, spirits, foreign snack foods and a limited selection of pipe tobacco, at a price - about ¥ 60 per pack! No papers the last time we checked.
