My husband is having an affair with another man, in conservative Nanjing of all places!

The latest Chinese flick set in Nanjing, and this one winner of Award for Best Screenplay, 2009 at the Cannes Film Festival, has gone on general release this week in cinemas in the USA and elsewhere, but not in China. Director Lou Ye had his last film, "Summer Palace", screened at Cannes in 2006 before it had been submitted to government censors, and as a result he was banned from making any more pictures for five years. Not one to put off by the might of the Chinese government, Lou shot "Spring Fever" in secret in Nanjing. Hardly surprising since the film's subject deals with a woman who has her husband followed after she finds out he is having an affair with another man and the love triangle that ensues. You can see the trailer for the film [here].
